(Photo of Black Tern ...) May Bird Walk - Glacial Drumlin Trai

The day was a bit chilly with some wind which kept the number of birds down slightly. We still managed to find a number of local as well as migrating species. Special treats included watching a flock of Black Terns once we reached Rock Lake. They were feeding on the ground, circling in the air and amusing us with their "toy rubber duck" squeaky calls. An Osprey fly over as well as watching one on a nest added to the treats on the walk. All in all, a very successful outing for our group of birders.

If you couldn't be with us for this walk, we hope you can join us for an upcoming one. You never know what you might miss if you aren't part of the walk group!

Below is a complete list of bird species identified. Special thanks to Karen Etter Hale for the excellent field notes.
