(Photo of American White Pelican ...) September Bird Walk - Backhuber Impoundment

Hot, humid, sunny described our walk around the Backhuber impoundment at the Horicon State Wildlife Area. We did have an area with fewer mosquitos than some but we certainly didn't avoid them! That said, our group of intrepid humans and one terrier saw a number of interesting birds along a pleasant trail. Highlights were a family of Trumpeter Swans and a large number of singing, not quite on song, juvenile Marsh Wrens. We did get a good look at one adult Marsh Wren as well.

There is a complete list of birds sighted below.

If you couldn't be with us for this walk, we hope you will be able to join us for an upcoming field trip next year. This was the last scheduled walk for 2018. Thanks to everyone who came out and walked with us this season! If there is an opportunity for another walk before year's end, we will let you know of course.
