(Photo of Tree Swallow ...) June Bird Walk - Horicon Marsh

The weather spared us as we avoided rain - though we didn't entirely avoid fog , but it didn't hamper us - and had a very good day for birding. Our route near the International Education Center took us through wetlands, the woods of Indermuhle "Island" and back to the start by the shore of an impoundment. Special moments on the walk included watching a pair of Cedar Waxwings building a nest, many Black Terns in flight and large flocks of American White Pelicans.

On all such walks we see many interesting items other than birds. This walk involved several stops to examine wildflowers, Green Frogs and Painted Turtles. A full list of species seen, complete with excellent notes from Karen Etter Hale (thanks!) is below.

If you couldn't be with us for this walk, we hope you will be able to join us for an upcoming field trip.

52 species were seen on this walk.
