July Bird Walk - Korth Park

A refreshing breeze made our walk in the prairie quite pleasant despite it being a very warm morning. Walkers were treated to views and songs from a number of prairie and grassland birds. We also enjoyed flyovers by everything from American White Pelicans to Northern Harriers, one of which was seen hunting near the prairie for an extended time. A full list of birds seen is provided below. Once again, thanks to Karen Etter Hale for her excellent field notes!

The prairie was in full bloom, providing us with a chance to observe many prairie blossoms. We were entertained by a number of different butterfly species and dragonflies as well. All in all, a very enjoyable adventure for the group on a beautiful morning.

If you couldn't be with us for this walk, we hope you will be able to join us for an upcoming field trip.
