August Bird Walk - Old Marsh Road

(Photo of Forsters Tern ...)
Our return to Old Marsh Road after a bit of a hiatus proved a fun walk for all concerned. We mostly dealt with overcast skies which kept the temperature down some and prevented dealing with direct sunlight. Special treats included a Virginia Rail which chose to stay out in the open for quite a while instead of skulking through the foliage as is more common. Another was a plethora of Great-egrets brightening the day with their stark white color. Two American Bitterns entertained us with flybyes. Near the end of the walk we noticed lightening in the distance as a storm moved closer. That sent us heading back for the cars but we had covered the territory targeted so there was no great impact. All in all it was a fun walk with a good number of fun sightings.

Below is a complete list of bird species identified.
