(Photo of Tree Swallow ...) August Bird Walk - Old Marsh Road

We had a good turnout for our Old Marsh Road walk at the Horicon State Wildlife Area. The weather favored us with sun and a breeze though it did get hotter and more humid as the morning progressed. The road will be off limits soon so it was great to get out there before that happened.

We were able to find a number of song birds in the wooded area closest to the east end of the road. Shore birds appeared later, though not many individuals. We spent quite a lot of time trying to identify some that were just a bit too far off. Great discussion ensued. Fun, but frustrating also.

Great Egrets, many Canada Geese and various other waterfowl rounded out the list. All in all we had a fine variety of birds to check out. A complete list of birds seen is below.

If you couldn't be with us for this walk, we hope you will be able to join us for an upcoming field trip. There's always something you'll miss if you're not there!
