(Photo of Black Tern ...) August Bird Walk - Revisit Zeloski Marsh

When the walk started, the weather was relatively cool and hazy. The cool soon turned to hot and the haze to humidity, making this a warm, muggy walk. Fortunately, there were many great birds to see as we moved along fairly slowly. It seemed there were Great Egrets everywhere we looked, along with several flocks of various ducks flying in and out of the impoundments. We were entertained by many swallows. We managed to find a number of shorebirds, no mean feat in our area lately. Besides the birds, we had a great look at a Bullfrog and assisted a large Painted Turtle, which crossed our path, on his way. See below for a complete list of birds seen. Once again, many thanks to Karen Etter Hale for her excellent field notes.

If you couldn't be with us for this walk, we hope you will be able to join us for an upcoming field trip.
